I am embarrassed to say that I had not visited the National Memorial Arboretum until today. It was well worth the visit. We were there on a bright but cold day and there were plenty of people there. Overall, you cannot but be moved by the sheer number of memorials, or the number of people commemorated there. The centrepiece of the site is the Armed Forces Memorial, listing every person killed on duty since the Second World War. It is a very fine memorial, simple, strong and moving. I was very pleased to have gone.
