If you are ever in Christchurch, make sure you find time to visit Mapworld (www.mapworld.co.nz). Recently relocated as a result of the earthquake, they have both a fantastic range of New Zealand maps and the knowledge to go with it. So today we set off on a tour of the Banks Peninsula, just south east of Christchurch, following a route marked up on the map by the proprietor.
It was a great route which took us well off the main roads, and indeed off the tarmac road on occasion. One of the places we stopped was Pigeon Bay where we had the opportunity to watch Kingfishers, Variable Oystercatchers and Shags from the road.
Lovely, And the sun shone!
