Given the bad weather, we had some extra time today and had the opportunity to briefly visit two lovely little churches in Franz Joseph township, St James’s and Our Lady of the Alps. They both date back to the 1930s and when built offered clear views to the glacier. Sadly, the glacier has now retreated out of sight.
The photograph of Our Lady of the Alps took a little positioning because someone has carelessly and rather disrespectfully built the town’s fire station within five yards of the church, and had placed a mobile telephone mast directly behind. I’m all in favour of both but I think they could have given the church a little space!
