We went for a walk this morning around Yountsville, one of the Napa Valley towns and home to some of its best restaurants. It was very nice. I always feel that walking is almost unAmerican, unless you are in a national park. But it was nice to find some quiet roads and feel that we could quickly get into real country and of course you can see so much more than from a car (particularly round here where the traffic on the larger roads is constant and there are few places to pull off the road). It is spring here and it was nice to hear the birds, and the frogs in the creek, and get a bit of wind in our hair. The countryside remind me of bits of Spain we visited a few years ago with pastures sprinkled with oaks to provide shelter and acorns.
