I always find old churchyards rather affecting, particularly when they are set, like this one, in the country. Old Creich is just outside Bonar Bridge and the churchyard looks over the Dornoch Firth which you can see in the background. The church itself was long since ruined. In this churchyard there were a series of tombstones which recorded the deaths over time of whole families. It was a sad reminder of how many children died in infancy or as young men and women long before their parents. There are a hundred heartbreaks in every old churchyard.
