Our first attempt to see one of the more famous churches took us to Quemchi on the east coast of the island. It was a nice little town with a restaurant, El Chego, serving very nice empanadas. The church is on a small island near the town, reached by a long wooden causeway. Unfortunately when we visited the causeway was being repaired and we could not reach or see the church!
