Happy Christmas.
I took this picture in the summer, involving a load of friends from a local shoot. My thanks to all of them. It was a little more complex than the finished product might suggest and required quite a lot of post-production work., which was done by Elizabeth Franks. My thanks to Elizabeth who also advised on the lighting.

The photograph is based on a picture by Rembrandt (or his school) called the Adoration of the Shepherds which is the National Gallery collection. The moment I saw the picture which places the nativity scene in a contemporary, for him, setting I know it had the potential for a great photograph. Fortunately I had access to a disused building which was perfect for creating the sense of being in a large dimly lit barn.
I hope you enjoy the picture and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
