I have had an enjoyable two days of photogravure print making this week. The first day was making some new plates at Lux Darkroom; the second was a busy day of printing with my friends at Green Door Printmaking.
The key product was the print above of the 500 year old oak tree in our garden at Barlaston. It is a dark, slightly moody print but the more I look at the more I like it. It certainly takes some looking to see everything which is there.
Who knew there was so much fun to be had in print making, or that so much could go wrong. We will set aside the forgotten Photoshop curves, under wiped plates and all the other errors in the path to one acceptable print!
