As I was a little early I stopped to remind myself of Jedburgh Abbey, situated right in the centre of Jedburgh and one of the jewels of the Borders. It was too late to gain entrance but you can get the full sense of what was obviously a rich and prosperous abbey (when it wasn’t being pillaged by the English) from just walking round the outside.
