The final day of the trek was the toughest with an 18km trek to and from the viewing point for the three ‘towers’ of Torres del Paine. The viewing point is at about 880 metres, not that high but a long tough pull all the same. But on a clear day the view when you get there beats anything I have ever experienced.
On the way up, Carol was quick and smart enough to spot two Huemel deer crossing the river below us, and I managed to catch one of them on film. We were very lucky to see them as there are only about 100 in the park and there is a lot of work going on to help re-establish a decent population.
