We flew into Rome yesterday and drove straight to Urbino. It’s quite a long way right across Italy but we arrived safely well before dark. The nearer we got to Urbino, the duller the weather, and part from a couple of hours of sunshine this morning it has remained dull today.

Most of the day was consumed by the Palazzo Ducale and then Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, of which more later but suffice to say they were well worth the trip. But towards the end of the day we headed out of Urbino to try and get some views back across the city. Unfortunately it remained persistently grey and the main towers of the Palazzo Ducale are shrouded in restoration scaffolding, but I managed to get a couple of images.
