In late 2012, I saw an exhibition of paintings by Sir Peter Lely (1618-80) at the Courtauld Gallery in London. The exhibition included a large painting, ‘Nymphs by a Fountain’, which I particularly enjoyed and thought would be a great starting point for a photograph. You can see an image of the original picture here.
Late last year I had the opportunity to create a picture inspired by the original, but transposing the location to the Scottish Highlands and introducing a red stag in attendance. You can see part of the image above and the full image can be seen here:
