There must be thousands of small chapels and churches across Italy, languishing in a permanent state of semi-neglect. This chapel is just outside Sant’Angelo in Pontano. A house has been built on to the side of the church and when we were examining the outside the resident kindly came and opened the doors for us. The core structure and the fresco inside are C15 but the tower at the back appears to have been built in the last fifty years – perhaps replacing one that had fallen.
